Diane Nathaniel has been the patient in the room. A Stage 3 colon cancer survivor turned patient advocate, she knows what it is to receive news that reorganizes a life, and what it takes to keep advocating for yourself while you absorb it.
Diane pairs that lived experience with formal training. She holds an Advanced Certificate in Public Health from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University (2020), and spent nineteen years as an elementary school counselor with the New York City Department of Education.
She is also a professional speaker, and brings an unusual ability to translate complex medical realities into clear, actionable steps for the people she walks alongside.
Diane works with people navigating serious and chronic illness, and with those supporting them.
Diane lives her mission daily: making sure every patient knows they are not alone, and that they have both the right and the power to advocate for themselves. Her work is practical as much as it is emotional — understanding the system you are inside, and finding your footing and your voice within it.
