Emily aims to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore the concerns that are making life difficult. Her work centers on each person’s strengths, goals, and unique needs.
Emily’s education includes a master’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University, an MS in Psychology in Education from Teachers College at Columbia University (2018), and a BS in Psychology from Seton Hall University (2016).
Emily has experience working with adolescents and adults from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Her clinical experience includes anxiety, depression, ADHD, personality disorders, and trauma.
Emily’s counseling philosophy is grounded in the belief that people possess strengths and tools that can help them reach their goals and overcome challenges. She uses person-centered therapy with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques.
She also draws on Motivational Interviewing to explore readiness for change and mixed feelings about it. CBT helps clients examine negative thoughts and self-talk, while DBT and mindfulness support skills for managing intense emotions and behaviors.
