  1. Meet Joyann

Joyann Reid has spent two decades on the side of children who are struggling — first as a social worker, then across sixteen years as a school counselor, and now as a Mental Health Therapist. She knows what a child looks like when they are falling behind in three environments at once, and she knows how to help a family get their footing back.

  2. Background and training

Joyann began her career in social work, where her focus was reuniting families and clearing the practical barriers that keep a household from functioning — identifying resources, opening doors, connecting families to support.

She earned her Master's degree in Counseling Education at St. John's University, followed by a Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Alfred University.

  3. Who she works with

Joyann works closely with children and adolescents, supporting their functioning and behavior across every environment they move through — home, school, and community. She has a strong record helping young people manage ADHD, conduct disorders, anxiety, and PTSD.

Because of her school counseling background, she is comfortable working alongside teachers and school teams, and comfortable helping parents understand what is happening for their child.

  4. Her approach

Joyann leads with education. She helps clients and families understand what they are dealing with, so a diagnosis becomes something a family can work with rather than something that happens to them. From there she works on the patterns of thinking and reacting that are causing trouble now — staying focused on the present and on what can change this week, not only on what happened before.
